Maintenance of Al Wathba slaughterhouse
The Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi (DMT) commissioned Axon Facilities Management and Services to carry out a maintenance project for the Al Wathba Slaughterhouse Complex. This project aimed to ensure the continuous, efficient, and safe operation of all facilities, equipment, and supporting systems.
The work focused on maintaining the highest operational standards, enhancing reliability, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
A comprehensive periodic maintenance plan was developed and implemented for all equipment and machinery within the complex. This plan covered preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
The scope of work included:
1. Operation, Repair, and Maintenance of Mechanical and Electrical Systems:
Complete operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement (when required) of all mechanical and electrical equipment within the complex.
Maintenance of all slaughtering and processing lines, equipment, and accessories, including control and automation systems.
Servicing all mechanical systems, networks, and associated components to ensure business continuity.
2. Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Ventilation Systems:
Operation, maintenance, and repair of all refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including central, packaged, and individual units.
Maintenance of refrigeration compressors, evaporators, condensers, and cooling systems within the cold storage rooms.
Inspect piping systems, cooling water lines, filters, and ventilation ducts, replacing damaged parts as needed.
Repair and replace insulation systems and cold room doors to maintain thermal efficiency.
Repair or rebuild concrete and metal compressor bases, including dismantling, installation, and calibration.
Diagnose and repair cold room malfunctions and insulation defects.
Annual cleaning of ventilation ducts to maintain air quality and system efficiency.
Provide detailed technical reports every three months on the condition and performance of air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
3. Metal Doors, Fascias, and Ventilation Openings
Maintain and replace all internal and external metal doors, fascias, and their fittings.
Replace damaged glass panes and ensure their safe operation and compliance with safety standards.
4. Electrical System Maintenance
Maintain all main and sub-distribution panels, cables, and associated equipment from the main transformer to the points of use.
Maintain all internal and external lighting systems, switches, sockets, and emergency lighting units.
Maintain alarm systems, control panels, and safety devices.
Repair, operate, and replace faulty electrical components and control systems to ensure continuous power supply.
5. Plumbing and Drainage Systems
Repair and maintenance of all drainage fittings, piping systems, sinks, mixers, sprinklers, and associated fixtures.
Replacement of damaged components and execution of necessary civil works related to plumbing systems.
6. Wastewater Treatment Plant Operation and Maintenance
Complete operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
Provision of all chemicals and consumables necessary for efficient plant operation.
Conducting laboratory tests and analyses of treated wastewater through specialized laboratories.
Operation and maintenance of newly installed equipment within the treatment plant and throughout the slaughterhouse complex.
