The Port Slaughterhouse Maintenance Project – Phase 1 is a comprehensive modernization and upgrade initiative aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, safety standards, and the durability of the slaughterhouse's infrastructure. The project, being implemented by Axon Facilities Management for the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi, focuses on upgrading essential systems, improving structural safety, and ensuring compliance with best engineering practices and hygiene standards. The scope of work includes: Supplying and installing integrated stormwater drainage systems, along with optimizing and improving existing drainage networks to ensure effective water management throughout the slaughterhouse. Comprehensive roof maintenance work is also being carried out, including the installation of protective barriers to enhance safety and extend roof life. The project also involves removing old waterers and water supply lines, and providing mobile feeders tailored to the size of each pen to improve operational performance and animal management. Structural improvements are a key component of the project, including the removal, redesign, and installation of barriers in selected pen groups, as well as the installation of reinforced fencing systems supported by robust metal beams. Additional works include the construction of three reinforced concrete staircases with double handrails and the development of a fully accessible entrance for people with disabilities, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards. Basic structural repairs are being carried out by replacing damaged columns with main metal beams and treating, maintaining, and painting the surfaces of damaged columns. Cleaning and drainage channels have also been properly covered to improve hygiene and safety. Windbreak systems have been installed to protect spraying operations from environmental factors, improving efficiency and consistency. To enhance operational efficiency, the project includes the design and installation of an electronic carcass tracking system, ensuring improved monitoring and control of processes within the abattoir. Overall, this phase represents a significant upgrade to the facility, enhancing structural reliability, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring a safer and more efficient environment that aligns with Abu Dhabi's regulatory standards and its long-term infrastructure vision.
